Dorchester, MA –Boys & Girls Clubs of Dorchester is one of thousands of Clubs across the country joining in a search to identify talented young artists. The competition is part of Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s (BGCA) National Arts Contest, a comprehensive initiative promoting young people’s creativity, and encouraging artistic skills and cultural enrichment.
As a participant in the National Arts Contests, Boys & Girls Club of Dorchester submitted members’ artwork and photographs in two contest areas: National Fine Arts and ImageMakers Photography. In 2021, BGCA received close to 2,500 entries from local Clubs and Youth Centers on military installations overseas. Selected artwork is screened at the regional level, and a limited number is sent to BGCA’s Atlanta headquarters for judging at the national level.
This past August, regional winners were judged by professionally recognized artists virtually. Their decisions were difficult and resulted in 33 National Fine Arts and 20 ImageMakers Photography winners.
Naraya D was named as a National Winner in the Mixed Media Category for the 10-12 age group. Naraya’s artwork will be displayed at special events throughout the year and featured in BGCA’s online art gallery.
