Even as social distancing continues in Massachusetts, we’re still on the hunt for ways to safely celebrate one of the most coveted seasons in New England!

Head to Dorchester Brewing Co. for Oktoberfest

Dorchester Brewing Co. is hosting an Oktoberfest celebration from Saturday, September 26th through Saturday, October 3rd!! However, it may look a little bit different this year. The tap room will continue with socially distanced seating with contactless ordering but will also be offering DBco Fest Bier lager, limited edition glassware, a special Oktoberfest food menu from M&M BBQ, live music and a decorated Beer Hall that makes you feel as though you were in Munich!

DBC ensures that this will be a COVID safe “event”. And urges everyone to follow their current guidelines such as no standing while drinking/eating, you must wear a mask while not at your table etc. PS Show up in authentic German gear (Lederhosen or Dirndl) and get a very special prize!

Take A Hike

While crossing state lines may not be in everyone’s best interest, there are still plenty of ways to enjoy the foliage right here in our backyard! Head to Blue Hills Reservation to enjoy all the fall colors and views of the city all while keeping a safe distance from your fellow leaf peepers. COVID practices for the park are outlined here.

Carve or Decorate Pumpkins

This Halloween tradition, typically done at home, is the perfect way to get in the spooky spirit while practicing social distancing. Plus, you can support local by buying your pumpkins from Lambert’s on Morrissey Blvd and The Daily Market in Savin Hill or squash + gourds at the Ashmont Farmers Market open Fridays, from 3-7 PM on the Droser Plaza in at Ashmont MBTA. Save the date – on October 9th – it’s Pumpkin Day at the market perfect for carving or placing on your stoop!

Football is Back!

There’s nothing that says Fall like tailgating and football. Although we may not be able to tailgate or attend games this year we can certainly still cheer on the Pats at home! Put on your jersey and order take-out from your favorite local pub! Check out delivery options here. Some of our favorites include Mexican Street Nachos from Lucy’s American Tavern, G Winz from Wingz and Tingz and the Bred Impossible Burger from Bred Gourmet. Don’t forget to stock up on game day snacks at American Provisions!
