Thank you, Veterans! 

Originally known as Armistice Day to honor the living veterans of World War I, Veterans Day has transformed into a holiday celebrating all who have served and are serving their country. Here are some things happening in the neighborhood to celebrate.  Check back as this list may be updated!

Brunch for Veterans

Veterans receive 50% off on one food item on Monday at Lucy’s – dine-in only!

Zoo is Free for Veterans

In honor of Veterans Day, admission to Franklin Park Zoo and Stone Zoo will be free on November 10th and 11th 2023 from 9am-4pm. Spend the day with family, learn about fascinating wildlife, and explore all the Zoos have to offer! Free entrance will be available with proper military identification for veterans and their immediate family members, last admission will be at 3pm.  

Free Donuts for Veterans

Dunkin’ Donuts – Free donut for all veterans and active duty military on Nov 11.

  • Legal Sea Foods: Free bowl of chowder for veterans and active military on Monday, November 11 – dine in only. All locations except airports.
  • View Boston: 50% of general admission tickets for veterans and active military on November 10 & 11 – box office only.

Visit the USS Constitution Museum over Veteran’s Day Weekend

Located just next door in Charlestown, The USS Constitution Museum will honor veterans and their families throughout Veterans Day Weekend with exclusive activities. Veterans visiting the museum will enjoy free admission for military families and have access to special, veterans-only tours of the historic USS Constitution on November 10 and 11. Each veteran participant will receive a U.S. flag flown aboard “Old Ironsides.” The weekend will also feature hands-on maker activities and a write-a-thon to gather letters of gratitude for the veteran community. What’s Opened and Closed

Retail stores: Open at owners’ discretion after 1 p.m., unless retailer obtains permit to open earlier.

Liquor stores: Closed until 1 p.m. Monday.

Supermarkets: Open at owner’s discretion.

Convenience stores: Open at owners’ discretion.

Taverns, bars: Open at owners’ discretion.

Banks: Closed.

Municipal buildings: Closed.

Libraries: Closed.

Schools: Closed.

Mail: Post offices closed. UPS and FedEx will operate as usual.

MBTA: All modes of public transit will operate on a regular schedule.

Boston traffic rules: Parking meters are free with no time limit. All other parking rules apply.

Trash/recycling collection: Collections will be delayed in some neighborhoods.
