On Saturday, August 15th, the UFC will host another PPV event in Vegas, baby. UFC 252 will kick off at 6pm UFC APEX facility with preliminary fights. The main fight card starts at 10pm. This fight card has it all. A heavyweight championship rematch, colorful cornrows, an over the top sheepskin hat and guy named Herbert.

Merab Dvalishvili vs. John Dodson – Men’s Bantamweights

The odds are in favor of Merab – most likely due to the fact he’s on a four-fight winning streak. I’m picking Merab for the win. This son of the Republic of Georgia trains with UFC Legend Matt Serra. In just six UFC fights, Dvalishvili has had 52 takedowns with 25 of them coming in his last two bouts. I’m predicting it will go all three rounds with Merab winning each and every one.

Herbert Burns vs. Daniel Pineda – Featherweights

I don’t know much about these two fighters but I’m predicting that Burns will win due to the fact he’s coming off a win by submission in his last fight. Burns is a talented grappler with some powerful striking and Pineda recently lost his last bout by decision.

Junior dos Santos vs. Jairzinho Rozenstruik

Jairzinho Rozenstruik is the favorite in this bout but I’m liking dos Santos. He’s a former champion with a lot of power in his hands and legs. He’s a smart experienced fighter where Rozenstruik was knocked out in 16 second his last night. Also, two saints are better than one.

Sean O’Malley vs. Marlon Vera

I’m gonna go with Suga Sean O’Malley because he’s coming off of two first round knockouts. Marlon Vera is coming off of a loss. This is big step up in competition for O’Malley but he’s proven himself to be a strong technical fighter with speed. Plus, O’Malley has really cool hair.

Stipe Miocic vs. Daniel Cormier

This much anticipated heavyweight championship trilogy matchup will be a battle. I’m rooting for Stipe because he’s fun to watch (and I met him when he was in Boston and he’s an awesome guy and firefighter like my dad) but I think the part-time UFC commentator Daniel Cormier will be victorious. Cormier has a strong wrestling background and strong hands. He might look a little chunky but he’s very agile on his feet. My gut instinct tells me that it will go the full five rounds and a decision in Cormier’s favor.

These fights start at 10pm on ESPN plus.  I’ll be watching!
