The Boston Herald is reporting that shuttle buses are replacing Red Line trains on the between JFK/UMass and Quincy Center this morning while police investigate two bodies found on the tracks.
A man and woman were found dead after coming in contact with the Red Line’s third rail between North Quincy and Wollaston Station.
MBTA officials say the two victims were trespassing on the rail bed and “intentionally” got between the outside running rail and the third rail and at some point came into contact with the electrified third rail. A Red Line train operator spotted a man and a woman on the northbound rack just north of Wollaston Station at about 6 a.m.. EMS responded and discovered both people were dead but not struck by a train.
The deaths are being investigated by the MBTA police and the Norfolk DA’s office.
