At approximately 10:47 AM on Friday, September 11, 2026, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) responded to a radio call for a person with a knife in the area of 468 Blue Hill Avenue (CVS) in Dorchester.

Upon arrival, officers received information that two individuals were engaged in an altercation, with both parties in possession of a knife. Officers reviewed security footage which showed a male and female physically fighting near the main entrance of the store. Officers further observed the male in the video attempting to conceal several items under his armpit while trying to walk out of the store before being confronted by the female suspect.

Officers spoke to the female suspect who stated she was shopping in the store when she observed the male suspect attempt to steal various items. The female suspect stated she approached the male suspect in an effort to retrieve the stolen items which led to a physical confrontation. During the scuffle, the female suspect brandished a knife which she used to slash the suspect in the chest. The male suspect stated he fled the store after the altercation, but returned for his cell phone. The male suspect stated he took out his knife in fear of his safety upon reentering the store. The male suspect refused EMS treatment and both were subsequently taken into custody.

Officers arrested Jewel Crutchfield, 60-years-old, of Dorchester and Philip Busam, 36-years-old, of Cambridge.

Crutchfield is charged with Assault and Battery by means of a Dangerous Weapon.
