It’s that time of year again, Dorchester! The race for the honorary title of Mayor of Dorchester is officially on, and it’s all for a great cause—raising money for the annual Dorchester Day Parade!
For those unfamiliar, the title of Mayor of Dorchester isn’t about politics—it’s about pride, community, and some good old-fashioned fundraising. Candidates throw their hats in the ring, and every dollar they raise counts as a vote. The one with the most votes (aka the most funds raised) wins the prestigious title and gets the honor of leading the Dot Day Parade down Dorchester Avenue in June.
So, what does it take to run? A love for Dorchester, must be a Dorchester resident, a knack for rallying support, and a solid game plan to bring in donations. Past candidates have hosted everything from meat raffles and trivia nights to bake sales and bar crawls—all to celebrate Dot and keep the parade tradition alive.
If you think you’ve got what it takes, now’s the time to step up!

We hear there are three Dorchester residents that have thrown their hat in the ring so far!

As far as I know, a candidate can be either male of female. I think that should be noted. Thanks.
