This year, we’ve expanded our footprint by illuminating a new corner of the Zoo exclusively for Boston Lights guests. Prepare to be dazzled as you wander through this forested realm and beyond, surrounded by the magic of all-new lantern displays, immersive walkthroughs, enchanting interactive displays and Instagrammable moments at every turn.
Dive into an underwater paradise, where vibrant jellyfish, majestic sea turtles, and an awe-inspiring 115-foot octopus await your discovery. Journey through an ocean tunnel surrounded by the boundless beauty of the sea, and visit an interactive display, where you can ignite a stunning volcanic eruption of light with a simple touch.
Enchantment blooms as you stroll through vibrant pathways, arches and tunnels bursting with luminous flowers and colorful butterflies. Guests of all ages will delight in a colorful display where a wave of the hand transforms buds into blossoms.
Immerse yourself in the vibrant tapestry of Asia’s rich cultural heritage as you journey through a dazzling array of traditional lanterns. Take a journey to India amidst beautiful lantern scenes adorned with jewel-toned colors, lotus flowers, an ornate walk-through palace, and animal lanterns including elephants, monkeys and rhinos. As you continue on your journey, you will discover traditional Chinese lanterns including the 76-foot “Kun,” an enormous fish brought to life from the pages of Chinese mythology.
Boston Lights illuminates the importance of conserving the incredible biodiversity on our planet. Guests will learn more about our commitment to conservation and ways to participate in wildlife and habitat preservation. Embracing sustainability, all our lanterns shine with energy-saving LED lights.
Boston Lights: A Lantern Experience at Franklin Park Zoo opens on August 2 and runs nightly through November 3. The hours are 6:00 to 10:30 p.m. August 2 – September 30, and 5:00 – 10:30 p.m. October 1 through November 3.
