From BPD News:

One Less Gun: At about 1:07 AM on Sunday, September 20, 2020, officers assigned to the District B-2 (Roxbury) Anti-Crime Unit made an on-site arrest and recovered a loaded firearm in the area of 257 Magnolia Street in Dorchester. While on patrol in the area of Blue Hill Avenue and Intervale Street, officers received a radio transmission alerting them to a ShotSpotter activation in the area of 122 Intervale Street. Officers began searching the area for potential victims and suspects.

As the officers came upon Ceylon Park through Magnolia Street, they observed an individual standing alone in the area watching the officers. When the officers slowed their cruiser down, the male immediately began sprinting down the stairs from Magnolia Street and into the park. Officers gave chase, pursuing the male on foot down the stairs. Additional officers arrived on scene and assisted, eventually apprehending the male at the bottom of the stairs. Simultaneously, an additional ShotSpotter activation occurred in the area of 270 Columbia Road. Officers requested a K-9 Unit to respond to the area to check for evidence which the male may have discarded during the foot pursuit. Under a tree, officers located a Colt 38 Special firearm loaded with six rounds of live ammunition.

Officers arrested a 17-year-old male of Dorchester. The suspect is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Loaded Firearm, and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.
