At about 2:15 PM, on Wednesday, March 25, 2020, while stopped at a traffic light at Dorchester Avenue and Hancock Street in Dorchester, a Sergeant Detective assigned to District C-11 (Dorchester) observed a male suspect punch a male victim in the face with a closed fist.  The Sergeant Detective also heard the suspect demand money from the victim. The victim was lying in the street with his hands up in a defensive position when the suspect removed United States Currency from the victim’s pocket.

The Sergeant Detective attempted to stop the suspect as he quickly fled the scene on a black mountain bike. Officers assigned to District 11 responded and assisted the Sergeant Detective pursuing the suspect. The suspect was eventually stopped on Adams Street and Park Street where he was placed under arrest.

The victim, a 50-year-old male victim from Boston, sustained a laceration to his forehead but refused medical attention at the scene.

The suspect, Keon Baker, 28, of Boston, will be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on charges of Unarmed Robbery and Assault and Battery. At the time of his arrest, Baker was also wanted on two straight warrants sought out of South Boston District Court for: Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Possession of Class B Drugs and Assault and Battery of a Family Member (209A).
