The residents of Standish Village Assisted Living in Dorchester are online sharing some love via reading stories to families! It’s a new and creative way for residents to stay connected and engaged with the outside world during the COVID-19 crisis.
Normally residents read to the children of the Mildred Avenue School in Mattapan but with schools now closed, Lauren Basler, EnrichedLIFE director, came up with the idea to take story time to the internet.
“With schools being closed and the residents unable to go out, I wanted to continue this connection virtually,” says Basler. “I posted a request on Facebook and have received weeks worth of offers!”’
One virtual classroom had students living as far away as California and England!
Just a simple way to feel some connection during this crazy time! Make sure to follow Standish Village on Facebook for updates!
