All restaurants in the neighborhood that had a temporary city permit for outdoor dining will need to close up by Tuesday, December 1st.  Initially, outdoor dining was suppose to end on October 31st, but Mayor Marty Walsh announced in September that the outdoor dining season in the City of Boston would be extended through December 1st to better support restaurants during the ongoing COVID-19 public health emergency. This extension applied to outdoor dining on both public and private property.

Restaurants utilizing the Temporary Outdoor Dining Program on public sidewalks and parking lanes have until Tuesday to remove tables, barriers, etc. The City of Boston were accepting requests for further extensions based on a case by case situation. No word if any of our neighborhood restaurants have applied.

We’re sad to see them go!  Over the weekend, most outdoor dining spots were in use.  It would be nice to see this initiative extended through the holiday season but it doesn’t seem likely!

Those restaurants that already have outdoor dining permitting in place with the City can remain open.

You can continue to support our neighborhood business community by ordering takeout/delivery and by purchasing gift cards!
