Virginia “Jinny” Chalmers, 70, a beloved retired Boston Public Schools principal, was fatally hit Tuesday by an Eversource utility truck in Milton while riding her bicycle. She was the longtime principal at Young Achievers K-8 Pilot School.
The Boston Globe reports that nearly100 teachers, former students, and friends gathered Wednesday night for a candlelit vigil outside Chalmers’ home in Dorchester. She leaves behind her wife, Ilene Carver – an organizer for the Boston Teachers Union.
The crash remains under investigation.
