Tribute in Light
Tribute in Light, the two beams of light that evoke the memory of the Twin Towers, was first displayed in March 2002 in commemoration of the six-month anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. Since then, the 9/11 Memorial & Museum has produced Tribute in Light on every 9/11 anniversary to honor those killed and shine a light on the unbreakable spirit of New York City. An iconic symbol of collective remembrance and a public art installation, Tribute in Light is temporarily assembled each year near the 9/11 Memorial & Museum in lower Manhattan. Visible up to 60 miles away, 88 high-intensity search lights project twin beams up to four miles into the sky.
In Boston the following buildings will be participating: City Hall, Zakim Bridge, Fenway Park, South Station Tower, 131 Dartmouth, State Street HQ and Rowes Wharf.
