AAA expects a record 49 million people will travel for the holiday, with the majority going by car. In Massachusetts, AAA expects just over 1 million people to be on the road.
Friday, July 5th between 10am-12pm is expected to be the worst time to travel with Wednesday, July 3rd afternoon and evening being a close second.
Lower gas prices and the potential for a four-day weekend mean is believed to be reasons why people are hitting the road to celebrate America’s birthday.
So prepare yourself for delays, or just don’t leave the neighborhood.
