The Drug Enforcement Administration has issued a Public Safety Alert due to a dramatic increase in fake prescription pills containing fentanyl and methamphetamine.
According to the DEA, there is a nationwide surge in counterfeit pills. They say these counterfeit pills are being mass-produced by criminal drug networks in labs, the marketed as legitimate pills, and killing unsuspecting people at an ‘alarming and unprecedented’ rate.

This is the first public safety alert from the DEA in six years.
DEA officials also said a knockoff version of the pill Adderall is being sold on the black market laced with methamphetamines.
This alert doesn’t apply to legally prescribed and dispensed legitimate pharmaceutical medications.
