VIA BPD News:

On Saturday, January 18, 2025, at approximately 7:15 AM, officers assigned to the E-13 (Jamaica Plain), B-3 (Mattapan), and Citywide Drug Control Units arrested 26-year-old Edwin German and 33-year-old Alberis Cruz, both of Dorchester, on drug and firearm charges following the execution of a search warrant at 16 Wildwood Street, Dorchester.

At around 6:56 AM, Officers conducting pre-warrant surveillance observed Edwin German leaving the residence and driving away. Shortly after, they conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Theodore Street and Morton Street, informing German of the four search warrants obtained for him and his residence. During the stop, Officers learned that multiple individuals were inside the residence, along with a pit bull, which they were told was friendly.

Upon making entry to execute the warrant, one officer was attacked and bitten by the pit bull. The Officer managed to fend off the dog and retreat outside, where additional officers rendered aid and applied a tourniquet before Boston EMS arrived. The injured Officer was transported to a local hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Animal Control later responded to safely remove the dog, which had been secured in a room.

During the search, officers detained three additional individuals, including Alberis Cruz, and recovered the following:

  • A trafficking amount of cocaine
  • Scales, baggies, cutting agents, and other items consistent with drug distribution
  • A 9mm ghost gun with a magazine loaded with 17 rounds of ammunition
  • Undisclosed Amount of U.S. Currency

Both men were arrested and are expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on the following charges:

Edwin German

  • Trafficking Class B Drugs (Cocaine)

Alberis Cruz

  • Unlawful Possession of a Firearm
  • Unlawful Possession of Ammunition

Article titles like this only encourage dog breed racism. There are plenty of harmless pit bulls, just like other dog breeds. This dog was unfortunately probably trained to be a guard dog for the illegal activity in the home and that’s why they bit! Not because the dog is a pit bull. Please do better

This is a police report via BPD – not an article. It was a pit bull that bit the officer that’s why it’s in the report. Also, I think you mean prejudice against pit bulls and not racism.
