At about 2:35 AM on Friday, February 14, 2020, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) made an onsite arrest and recovered a firearm in the area of Quincy Street and Dacia Street in Dorchester.

While on patrol in the area of Blue Hill Avenue and Dacia Street in Dorchester, officers observed a motor vehicle operating without a valid inspection sticker. Officers activated their emergency equipment and conducted a traffic stop in the area of Quincy Street and Dacia Street. As officers approached the vehicle, they observed the operator to appear extremely nervous during their conversation. Officers conducted a query of the suspect’s license and discovered he had an active straight warrant out of Dorchester District Court on charges of Possession with Intent to Distribute Class D Substance, Resisting Arrest, Possession of Class B Substance, Failure to Stop for Police, and Speeding. The operator was removed from the vehicle and taken into custody. During their encounter with the operator, officers noticed a strong odor of alcohol emanating from the front female passenger, who was slurring her words. Officers determined the female passenger was not able to safely and responsibly take possession of the motor vehicle, thus deciding to tow the vehicle. As officers searched the vehicle before it was towed, they located a black .380 Ruger LCP firearm with a missing magazine. The female was identified and released from the scene.

Officers arrested Jakeem Hanson, 25-years-old, of Dorchester. Hanson is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.
