One Less Gun: At about 11:09 PM on Wednesday, January 29, 2020, members of the Youth Violence Strike Force made an onsite arrest and recovered a firearm in the area of 11 Sydney Street in Dorchester.

While on patrol in the area of Dudley Street in Dorchester officers observed a motor vehicle operating at an accelerated rate of speed. Officers reversed their direction and began following the vehicle in an effort to initiate a traffic stop. Officers activated their emergency equipment to affect a traffic stop in the area of Shirley Street and Dudley Street, but the operator refused to stop, and continued driving. The vehicle, which was operating at a significantly low rate of speed suddenly accelerated and fled from officers, who eventually lost sight of the vehicle in the area of Pleasant Street. Additional officers arrived and eventually officers located three individuals who they recognized to be the occupants of the motor vehicle inside of the Savin Hill Train Station.

Concurrently, additional officers located the motor vehicle parked on Sydney Street. Upon locating the vehicle, the three individuals were detained. Inside of the vehicle, officers located approximately 34 grams of crack cocaine, a black Smith and Wesson Bodyguard .38 caliber revolver loaded with four rounds of live ammunition, as well as an undisclosed amount of US Currency. The operator of the vehicle was taken into custody, while the two female passengers were identified and released from the scene.

Officers arrested Aloisio Monteiro, 26-years-old, of Stoughton. Monteiro is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Trafficking Cocaine, Failure to Stop for Police, and Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended License.
