From BPD News:

At about 9:51 PM on Saturday, October 10, 2020, officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) made an onsite firearm arrest in the area of Woodrow Avenue and Ashton Street in Dorchester.

While on patrol in the area of Blue Hill Avenue and Livingston Street, officers performed a CJIS query on a motor vehicle and it was revealed that the license plate had been reported stolen. Officers activated their emergency lights and sirens to initiate a traffic stop. As officers made contact with the motor vehicle, they observed a large bayonet on the floor of the backseat.

Officers removed the driver, later identified as Carolena Shephard, 40, and the passenger later identified as Corey Hinds, 36, both of Dorchester.

Officers performed a pat frisk of Mr. Hinds and immediately felt a hard object that officers believed to be a firearm. Officers recovered a loaded Jennings Firearm .22 caliber long rifle with six rounds in the magazine. Hinds was placed under arrest and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition. The bayonet was recovered and removed from the vehicle.

Ms. Shepard was placed under arrest after a CJIS query revealed that her license had been suspended and she had a Misdemeanor Default Warrant out of Brighton District Court.

Hinds and Shepard are both expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
