More neighborhood restaurants will soon be able to serve beer, wine, and cocktails. According to the Boston Business Journal, nine restaurants across Boston have been approved for new liquor licenses, including businesses in Dorchester and East Boston, as part of the City’s effort to expand dining and support small businesses in historically underserved neighborhoods.
The latest round of recipients includes:
- Shanti Taste of India – Dorchester
- MIDA – East Boston
- 355 Bennington Holdings – East Boston
- Italian Express – East Boston
- Pomona Café III – East Boston
- Behan Caffe – Jamaica Plain
- Ethiopian Café – Jamaica Plain
- Safari African Restaurant – Roslindale
- Maria’s Kitchen – West Roxbury
In addition, several restaurants were approved to upgrade their existing beer and wine licenses to full liquor licenses, including Spring Shabu-Shabu (Brighton), Silver Dove Afternoon Tea (Downtown), BenCotto, Pizzeria Regina, and Rocco’s Cucina & Bar (North End), along with Viva Karaoke & Studios in the Theater District.
The licenses are part of Boston’s ongoing effort to bring more dining options and support local restaurants in neighborhoods that have historically had limited access to liquor licenses.
