New to the Neighborhood: Surf’s Up Cannabis

A new cannabis shop has officially opened on Gallivan Boulevard. Surf’s Up Cannabis is now up and running, offering a range of products including flower, edibles, vapes, and pre-rolls from Massachusetts brands.
The shop is co-founded by Dorchester native Richie Parsons, who grew up on Westmoreland Street and attended St. Brendan’s and local public schools. The name “Surf’s Up” is a nod to his 1980 record No Surfin’ In Dorchester Bay. With more than six years in the cannabis industry, Parsons is bringing the business to his hometown.
“In the summer of 1980, Modern Methods Records released a song I wrote with Frank Dehler called “No Surfin’ In Dorchester Bay on a 7” vinyl record. I had a stamp made to mark the copies I sold in my neighborhood corner stores. “Dorchester Edition.“ Boston Rock Magazine did a half-page photo spread that went along with the lyrics. All Kathy Chapman pics. The band on the record , The Gremies (misspelled btw)was comprised of Boston Rock Legends from The Lyres, Real Kids, Unnatural Axe, Vinny Band and Moose Parsons on Sax! 45 years later Surf’s Up Cannabis is a nod to my Dorchester History and million seller ( I still a million down cellar) No Surfin….available streaming everywhere!” – Richie Parsons via Instagram
The goal of Surfs Up Cannabis is straightforward: a dispensary that feels accessible and community-focused. So stop by and check it out this week and welcome them to the neighborhood!
