According to Universal Hub, Kathleen Baker, owner of the Sugar Bowl is hoping to get a liquor license for the ice cream and sandwich shop located at 857 Dorchester Ave.
It seems the demographics of this neighborhood hav shifted and there aren’t as many families with kids looking for ice cream. If granted a liquor license, she is hoping the Sugar Bowl will be more of a sandwich and high end dessert spot. Baker spoke before the licensing board on Wednesday. Baker would also like to expand into unused space at the back of the shop.
The mayor’s office and the office of City Councilor Annissa Essaibi George were in support of the the proposal and no one came forward to speak against. it.
