It’s Veterans Day on Monday, November 11th! Originally known as Armistice Day to honor the living veterans of World War 1, Veterans Day has transformed into a holiday that celebrates all those who served their country. Make sure to thank a veteran!
Ready, set, go! The DAV 5K to honor veterans is a run, walk, roll and motorcycle ride that thanks those who served and raises awareness of the issues our ill and injured veterans face every day. The race takes place at Castle Island on Saturday, November 9th at 9am. $25 for adults, $15 for youth 6-15. To register visit here!Free for veterans!
Support! The CIA (Castle Island Association) is hosting a special Veterans Day Weekend “Support the Troops” toiletry drive! Volunteers will be setting up a spot in front of Sullivan’s Saturday-Monday 10am-12pm! After you’re done doing your good deed, order yourself a half price hot dog at Sully’s! The CIA will also be hosting a “Flag Retirement” service on Monday at 11am. Bring any torn or worn American flags in need of retirement out to Fort Independence.
The Leahy Halloran Community Center will be hosting a troops care package drive through November 15th. Drop off items like lip balm, baby wipes, handwarmers, pencils, pens, gum, and deck of cards. You can also sponsor a care package for $25. You can see a full list of items to donate here.

The Bowery Bar and Lucy’s American Tavern is offering 50% off meals for vets and active military on Monday all day. They will also be giving out t-shirts will supplies last!
Franklin Park Zoo – Free admission to Veterans all weekend + Monday 10am – 3:30pm (closes at 4pm)
Dunkin’ Donuts – Free donut for all veterans and active duty military on Nov 11.
Veterans and active military members can also enjoy a free lunch at 110 Grill on Monday, November 11th. You can learn more here!

• Municipal Offices: Closed (including City Hall, banks, public schools, and community centers) on Monday.
• Parking Meters: FREE, time limit NOT in effect. All other parking rules remain in effect.
