There’s a new mayor in town! Meet Bridget McDonagh, Mayor of Dorchester!

McDonagh, a 33-year-old Savin Hill native, mom of two, and personal trainer, raised an impressive $10,500 (and counting!) to earn the honorary title of Mayor of Dorchester. All funds go directly toward making the beloved Dorchester Day Parade happen on Sunday, June 1.

Born at the old St. Margaret’s Hospital and raised just down the street, McDonagh’s Dorchester roots run deep. Now living near Adams Village with her husband Richard (“Zig”) O’Reilly, 8-year-old daughter Lana, and almost 2-year-old son Liam.  She can often be found at DotBoxGym, which her brother owns, where she works as a personal trainer. Also, starting next week, McDonagh will be working at Milkweed, the much-anticipated restaurant opening on Tuesday, May 27th!

So how did McDonagh raise over $10K? She got creative with fundraising — hosting a Family Fitness Day at DotBox, throwing a 90s Night at Harp & Bard (which brought in about $3k), and even selling handmade “Dot” bracelets crafted by her niece Alyssa and her friends.

Now, with Dot Day just around the corner, Bridget is most excited for that iconic Dot Ave moment: “Marching down the street with my family for the first time ever.” (Though they’ll be riding a trolley, she promises to hop off to greet friends and neighbors.)

Congrats to Bridget — our new Mayor of Dorchester! Catch her on Dot Ave June 1st, surrounded by the community she loves.
