Meet Danielle Milner: Boston Firefighters Credit Union’s New CEO

Big news from our neighborhood partner, Boston Firefighters Credit Union! After a comprehensive search, the Board of Directors recently announced the appointment of Danielle Milner as President and Chief Executive Officer. A nationally recognized leader celebrated for her innovation, storytelling, and community impact, Milner becomes only the fifth CEO in BFCU’s nearly eight-decade history.

Milner joins BFCU from Community Financial Credit Union, where she served as Chief Experience Officer, leading strategy across retail, marketing, brand, and innovation while driving growth and delivering meaningful member experiences. She also held the role of CEO of the credit union’s holding company and several CUSOs, championing initiatives centered on economic empowerment and purpose-driven growth. Milner’s got the smarts and the skills with an MBA from Cleary University and a bachelor’s from Michigan State, making her more than ready to take BFCU into its next chapter.

Core Values

But what stands out most is her connection to BFCU’s core values: legacy, service, and community. “Boston Firefighters Credit Union has an inspiring history, one built by a dedicated team, guided by a committed board, and supported by loyal members who embody the spirit of community,” she shared. “It is an honor to serve first responders and their families across Massachusetts, and I’m excited to build on this incredible legacy, expanding our reach, innovating for the future, and ensuring BFCU remains a trusted partner for generations to come.”

Milner’s passion for the work is personal. Growing up just south of Ann Arbor, Michigan, she watched both her parents work and retire from Ford Motor Company, with their UAW credit union playing an important role in family life. Now, she says, moving to Boston feels like coming home. “The people, their perspective on life, their sense of humor, and the way they value family and hard work, feel so familiar.”

Settling in

Milner is supported by her husband Jon and their three daughters—Gabby, Joss, and Oona—plus Gordon, their 15-month-old Great Dane, who keeps the household laughing. She’s already discovered local favorites like The Mud House, Pete’s Pizza & Seafood, and McGonagle’s, and even stumbled upon the Savin Hill Yard Sale thanks to Caught in the Dot.

Deepening connections

As she steps into her new role, Milner says her goal is clear: making sure more first responders and their families across Massachusetts know the value of BFCU. “Credit unions are banking’s best kept secret. Our members put their lives on the line every day—they deserve the very best service and solutions in the market. I believe that’s BFCU, and we’ll work hard every day to prove that.”

For Milner, storytelling is at the heart of connection. “When we tell our stories, people get to know us in a real way. They see themselves in what we share—and that’s what brings us together.”

Welcome to the neighborhood, Danielle! We can’t wait to see the positive changes you’ll bring to the BFCU and right here in our community.
