If it weren’t for three fast acting teachers, things could have turned out a lot worse for a young girl in Dorchester.

According to WHDH, the girl was standing near a fence outside the Epiphany School on Sharp Street when police say 29-year-old Naeem Patrick hit her over the head with the pipe and tried to rape her.

Three teachers came to her rescue and stopped the attack. BPD was called and Patrick was arrested and evidently has a long criminal history.  He was arraigned on Tuesday and it was revealed that Patrick is schizophrenic. A forensic psychologist recommended that based on his history and the current charges, Patrick should be hospitalized at Bridgewater State Hospital.

Patrick will undergo a 20-day psychiatric evaluation. He is due back in court on Nov. 29.
