Good grief
It seems six months into the COVID-19 pandemic, people have thrown common sense out the window. Over the weekend, the Boston Globe reported on the virus spreading up and down the East Coast due to youth hockey tournament. Now, a large dance party in hotel suite at Encore Boston Harbor, is in the news.
According to NBC10 Boston, party organizer George Gerez from Dorchester rented a suite and a DJ and invited 30 people. Well, more than 30 people showed up and it had to be shut down by Mass State Police due to overcrowding.
Videos circulating of the party show party goers not wearing masks or practicing social distancing. Currently, state safety guidelines have indoor gatherings capped at 25 people. Not to mention, Everett is in the state’s red zone aka high risk for COVID-19 cases.
To add insult to injury, Gerez stated he didn’t pay attention to Gov. Baker’s updates and that people “have to live their lives because a lot of people are going crazy.” According to NBC10 Boston he added, ”If I get it, then I get it and if I die, I die.”
Gerez could face a $500 fine.
