At about 10:35 AM on Tuesday March 23, 2021, members of the BPD Youth Violence Strike Force arrested a 16-year-old male from Dorchester pursuant to an outstanding warrant in the area of 21 Bullard Street in Dorchester. The arrest warrant was sought out of Boston Juvenile Court on charges of Delinquent to Wit: Unarmed Robbery and Malicious Destruction of Property (Under $1200) stemming from an unarmed robbery that occurred at about 2:40 PM on Friday March 12, 2021, in the area of Magnolia Street and Intervale Street in Dorchester. During the incident, an adult male victim was robbed while working as a food delivery driver in the area. The juvenile suspect damaged the victim’s motor vehicle, shattering the rear window with a skateboard, before fleeing with the victim’s wallet and the package of food he was attempting to deliver.

Detectives conducted a thorough investigation which led to the identification of the juvenile suspect and the warrant for his arrest.

The suspect has since been arraigned in Boston Juvenile Court.

The men and women of the Boston Police Department would like to remind local area delivery drivers of the following Safety Tips to ensure their safety as they work within the City of Boston:

• Drivers should limit the amount of cash on hand

• Credit cards should be used for all delivery sales whenever possible

• For business owners taking the order, advise the caller/customer that for the health and safety of the driver, to meet the driver outside of their building or dwelling

• Always ask for a customer call back number and verify the number prior to delivery

• Prior to delivery, instruct the driver to utilize the call back number to confirm the delivery and be sure to meet outside, in a well-lit location

• Drivers should never under any circumstances leave their motor vehicle running while unattended. Not only is this a citable offense in the City of Boston, the driver is left vulnerable to a possible vehicle theft.
