Registration is now open; free for veterans
Ready, set, go! The DAV 5K to honor veterans is a run, walk, roll and motorcycle ride that thanks those who served and raises awareness of the issues our ill and injured veterans face every day. The race takes place at Castle Island on Saturday, November 10th at 9am. $25 for adults, $15 for youth 6-15. To register visit here!
“We are pleased to bring the DAV 5K Run to Honor Veterans to six cities this year,” said DAV National Adjutant and CEO Marc Burgess. “Through these events, we are able to bring more awareness to the issues facing our veterans and make them aware of the services we offer at no cost. Ultimately, that helps us serve more veterans at no cost to their families.”
“It is a way to gather as a community and thank veterans publicly,” said Past National Commander Delphine Metcalf-Foster, who participated in last year’s DAV 5K series. “But it’s also very important to let people know what DAV does for veterans to know they are not alone. And we’re so grateful for all of our participants who come out to stand up for and support veterans in their communities.”
Registration costs are $25 for adults and $15 for youth 6-15 and includes an event shirt and race bib. The DAV 5K is open to individual runners, walkers, wheelchairs, hand cycles and motorcycles as well as groups who wish to form a team.
The DAV 5K is presented by DAV and supported by USAA, 2018 National Series Sponsor.
About DAV
DAV empowers veterans to lead high-quality lives with respect and dignity. It is dedicated to a single purpose: fulfilling our promises to the men and women who served. DAV does this by ensuring that veterans and their families can access the full range of benefits available to them; fighting for the interests of America’s injured heroes on Capitol Hill; providing employment resources to veterans and their families and educating the public about the great sacrifices and needs of veterans transitioning back to civilian life. DAV, a non-profit organization with more than 1 million members, was founded in 1920 and chartered by the U.S. Congress in 1932. Learn more at www.dav.org.
