On Sunday, a special dedication ceremony took place to honor slain Massachusetts State Police Trooper Mark Charbonnier and Sgt. Richard Dever of the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department.
Charbonnier was shot during a traffic stop in Kingston in 1994. Back in 2005, Dever was stabbed to death trying to help remove a man from a Charlestown bar.
Both Charbonnier and Dever were from Dorchester. The new monument is located at Pope John Paul Park at the corner of Granite Avenue and Hilltop Street. All are encourage to stop by.
