Frank Baker is making a comeback.
The former District 3 City Councilor, who represented much of Dorchester and a small part of South Boston for over a decade, announced this week that he’s tossing his hat back in the ring, this time running for one of the citywide at-large seats on the Boston City Council.
A lifelong Dorchester guy with deep roots and a union background, Baker spent 12 years on the council before stepping down in 2023.
On Thursday afternoon, he made it official on X (formerly Twitter), writing: “Since I stepped back from my role on the City Council, I have heard a steady beat of Bostonians urging me to step back in and get involved. After much deliberation and discussion, I have decided to answer the call and do just that.”
Baker says he’s ready to be “a strong independent voice for the people of Boston.”
City Council President Ruthzee Louijeune and Councilors Erin Murphy, Julia Mejia, and Henry Santana are the current at-large city councilors.
