Originally known as Armistice Day to honor the living veterans of World War I, Veterans Day has transformed into a holiday celebrating all who have served and are serving their country. Here are some things happening in the neighborhood to celebrate. Check back as this list may be updated!

Giveback Bash at The LOT
Head over to The LOT, 383 Dorchester Ave., this Veterans Day from 12-4PM! This event will be full of giving back to those who served as well as our organizations in the neighborhood. Local nonprofits will be in attendance collecting donations, letter writing to the troops will be available, and activities for kids! Stop by and have some fun with games, food, live music, and even free train rides for kids. Donations needed include white athletic socks, diapers/wipes, and jackets/clothing for all ages. DAV 5K
Lace-up those sneakers and run or walk the DAV 5K at Castle Island on Saturday, November 11th. Cheer on the runners around Castle Island! Volunteers also wanted! You can learn more here!
Lunch for Veterans
The Broadway is saying thank you to veterans (and active military) with a FREE meal on Friday with proof of ID.
Veterans receive 50% off on one food item on Saturday at Lucy’s – dine-in only!
Zoo is Free for Veterans
In honor of Veterans Day, admission to Franklin Park Zoo and Stone Zoo will be free on November 10th and 11th 2023 from 9am-4pm. Spend the day with family, learn about fascinating wildlife, and explore all the Zoos have to offer! Free entrance will be available with proper military identification for veterans and their immediate family members, last admission will be at 3pm.

Comedy on Draft – a special veterans comedy show at Sam Adams Taproom on Thursday at 8pm. You can get tickets here!
What’s opened/closed
• Municipal Offices: Closed (including City Hall, banks, public schools, and community centers) on Friday
• Parking Meters: FREE, time limit NOT in effect. All other parking rules remain in effect.
• MBTA: Running on a Holiday schedule on Monday.
• Liquor stores: Open
