Well, this is very disappointing news. Dorchester non-profit, WORK Inc. has lost its contract with the Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Greenway Conservancy to a for-profit firm from Kentucky called Block by Block.
According to the Boston Globe, disabled and other employees from WORK Inc. who helped with the grounds of the greenway are officially out of jobs.
Greenway officials stated in the article that they chose Block by Block after “consideration of price, value, service, and references.” Block by Block also cleans Downtown Crossing. It was basically a best service for best price decision.
WORK Inc. employees jobs included emptying trash, picking up litter, shoveling snow, and power-washing under food trucks. Employees worked every day of the year from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Not a good look, Rose Kennedy Greenway.
