At a press conference on Tuesday, Gov. Charlie Baker attributed the under 30 demographic and ice hockey for a large portion of a recent spike in cases.

According to the Boston Globe, hockey games have accounted for as many as 110 cases and 30 clusters affecting 66 cities and towns. Last week, the state shut down hockey games and indoor ice skating.  Here have also been 300 recent cases in people under 30.

Baker also announced that contact tracing for the hockey outbreak has been problematic siting lack of cooperation by adults involved dealing to make rosters available to tracers. Contact tracing will be ramped up and in addition to hiring more tracers.

Baker urged residents to continue to be diligent when it comes to mask wearing and social distancing. Baker also mentioned young people hosting large house parties – reinforcing what local elected officials are also battling in the City of Boston.
