In disappointing news, after 24 years, Florian Restaurant will close its doors on Friday, October 23rd. See letter below from John John Soares, President of Boston Firefighters Local 718
Brothers & Sisters,
After a lengthy discussion with your Local 718 Executive Board and the management staff at Florian Hall, I regret to announce that Florian Restaurant will be closing effective Friday, October 23rd. Please understand that this was a difficult decision, and all our options to remain open were thoroughly explored. As we all know, this is a difficult time for small businesses, especially the restaurant business. This Executive Board hopes that a vaccine will soon bring an end to this global pandemic. We can formulate a business plan moving forward that will include the reopening of the Florian Restaurant and function halls.
We want to thank all our loyal customers, who, over the last 24 years, frequented our restaurant and celebrated special occasions at our banquet facilities. The Florian Restaurant was a staple in Dorchester and the Greater Boston community. I want to personally thank the Florian Restaurant management team and all our dedicated employees that made the restaurant a success over the years. Their work ethic and devotion reflected the mission of Boston Firefighters Local 718, and it is sad to make this announcement today.
Please know that your Executive Board will continue to monitor the effects Covid-19 has on the economy in Boston and review any options to reopen the Florian Restaurant if it appears to be economically viable. Again, we make this announcement with great regret, but we must consider the profitability of our assets to be fair and transparent with our membership.
Thank you for your continued support as we continue to navigate such difficult times. Stay well and stay safe.
Respectfully,
John Soares
President
Boston Firefighters Local 718
