On Wednesday, BFD responded to a call for report of a building fire at 2:20am on at 550 Ashmont Street. Fire was showing on arrival at this 2 and 1/2 story occupied residential building.
One resident was home at the time and was safety evacuated. Fire was on first floor and extend to the second floor. Fire was quickly knocked down. Damage is estimated at approximately $400,000. One resident displaced and one firefighter taken to area hospital with a non-life threatening injury.
