BFD responded to call of heavy fire at 24 Fairmount Street around 4:40 a.m. A 4th alarm was quickly ordered. he Flames ignited a car in the driveway.
The fire extended to the two adjacent buildings, 20 and 26 Fairmount, and to a garage in the back of 28 Fairmount. The back porches of 24 Fairmount Street have collapsed.
All companies are working. Commissioner Dempsey is now in charge. Heavy fire has been knocked down.
19 residents displaced and American Red Cross on hand to help. It is estimated to be over $2 million in damages. BFD Fire Investigation Unit is on scene.
