Early Saturday morning, BFD responded to a fire that started in the basement of 3 Groom St. in Dorchester. The flames quickly spread through the rear stairwell and up through the roof. A second alarm was ordered. Multiple residents were rescued from the building. Damages are estimated at $500,000. 12 people have been displaced.
It was a busy night for the Boston fire department. There was a six alarm fire in West Roxbury and a a 4-alarm fire overnight at 55 Dale St. in Roxbury.
All three fires are under investigation.
