As the weather gets colder and the couch starts looking a lot more comfortable, it may be time to switch up your workout routine for the fall season. Whether you are looking for group fitness around Southie or you prefer to exercise in the comfort of your own home, here are some options to keep your body moving.
Home Workouts
If you prefer to exercise in the comfort of your own home, clear some space in your living room or spare bedroom, light a candle for some cozy vibes and take advantage of the many platforms that exist specifically for at-home workouts. Apps like Peloton, SWEAT, Obe, FUTURE and Glo specialize in providing a variety of modalities with or without equipment to help you reach your fitness goals at home. YouTube also has a variety of free workout videos ranging from HIIT to pilates and yoga. Another great option is the local fitness group Trillfit! From Cardio Dance and Boxing to Sculpt, Restore, Meditation, and Sound Bath Healings – Trillfit has lots of wellness offerings to complement your journey – right from the comfort of your home!
Low-Impact
For yoga sculpt, vinyasa style, or hot yoga Open Doors Dorchester and 4 Corners Yoga and Wellness offer a range of classes if you are looking to get your shavasana on. Another form of low-impact exercise that has become increasingly popular is Pilates. C2 Pilates in Milton offers a Muscle + Flow Pilates Fusion, a low impact class designed to condition the body with exercises rooted in Pilates, as well as drawing influence from yoga, barre and dance technique!
High Intensity
If breaking a sweat and getting your heart rate up is more your style, there are many group fitness options in the area to challenge you. The Backyahd at South Bay offers fitness classes that blend strength and conditioning and cardio! Connected through Strenth offers HIIT + Bootcamp and Ignite Cycling classes.
Get Outdoors
Enjoy the foliage and fresh air, put on some layers, and take your workout outdoors this fall. One of the most underrated forms of exercise is walking. Luckily, walking in Dorchester, especially during this time of year, hardly feels like a workout. Whether it be along the beaches, Neponset Greenway or down Franklin Park, there is no shortage of walking paths to get those steps in and enjoy the weather. If you want some company, check out the Boston Parks Fitness Series.
