The long awaited development for Dot. Ave has a new management team at its helm! According to the Boston Globe, Samuels & Associates have taken over the management of this large scale project. This giant mixed use project was approved by the Boston Planning and Development Agency back in 2016 but the developer has proposed some changes.
Instead of an above-ground garage, an underground garage has been proposed allowing for roughly 1.25 acres of open space on 4-acre site. The number of units has increased from 362 to 487. Instead of space for large scale retail on the ground floor, the plans will now be designed with smaller storefronts in mind – we love that idea!
It is also expected that the cost of building will increase from $150 million to nearly $200 million.
Dot Block is located at 1205 Dorchester Ave.
This is a development project to watch in 2019. Construction is expected to begin by the end of next year.
