Dorchester’s Comfort Kitchen Group Expands With New Allston Restaurant with Moms in Mind

If you’ve been watching Boston’s restaurant scene as we have, there’s a truly exciting opening on the horizon for January 2026 — and it’s rooted in community, family, and deep, soul-satisfying cooking. According to Eater Boston, the team behind Dorchester’s Award-Winning Comfort Kitchen is launching a brand new, all-day restaurant called Ama inside the Atlas Hotel at 40 Western Avenue in Allston.
Ama, a name meaning “mother” in Nepalese, will be a tribute to moms, caregivers, and the people who feed us not just food, but care and culture. The project comes from Pearl & Law Hospitality, the husband-and-wife duo behind Comfort Kitchen, who are turning the next chapter of their culinary story toward a space that celebrates global comfort food with a deeply personal touch.
At 180 seats with room for breakfast, lunch, dinner, weekend brunch, room service, catering, and even snacks in the hotel lobby, Ama is a big leap for a team that cut its teeth in the cozy neighborhood atmosphere of Dorchester. The menu is rooted in culturally connected ingredients that have sustained communities for generations, think okra, cassava, lentils, parsnips, and plenty of globally inspired dishes.
Much of the menu will be inspired by family recipes and stories, including a dinner section devoted to Comfort Kitchen co-founder Nyacko Pearl Perry’s own mother-in-law, Saraswati, whose gentle soups and home cooking helped nourish Perry after the birth of her son. It’s food with history, personal meaning, and a deep sense of care — exactly what Ama sets out to honor.
