From BPD News:

At about 3:06 AM, on Saturday, April 1, 2023, Officers assigned to District B-3 Anti-Crime Unit (Mattapan), conducted a traffic stop which resulted in the arrests of Kevin Crutchfield Jr, 35, of Dorchester, and Cherrelle Rascoe, 37, of Dorchester.

Officers were on patrol in the area of Harvard Street and Gleason Street investigating a shot spotter activation. Officers were drawn to a motor vehicle in the area that had a broken taillight. Officers conducted a CJIS query of the motor vehicle which revealed that it had illegally attached plates.

Officers activated their emergency lights and sirens to conduct a traffic stop. Officers were able to speak with both occupants and determined that that operator had a suspended license. Officers removed both the occupants from the vehicle and advised them that the car would be towed.

Officers immediately observed the passenger, Rascoe, to have been sitting on a bag. Officers pat frisked the bag, and determined the presence of a firearm. Officers immediately placed both suspects into handcuffs without incident. The firearm was later determined to be a Jennings Firearm Inc J-22 with five rounds in the magazine.

Rascoe was placed under arrest and charged with; Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition. She is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.

Crutchfield was placed under arrest and charged with; Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Attached Motor Vehicle Plates, and Operating an Unregistered Motor Vehicle. He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
