At about 8:00 AM on Monday, May 27, 2019, members of the Fugitive Unit conducted a warrant arrest in the area of Richfield Street in Dorchester. Officers arrested Zachary Stewart, 18-years-old, of Dorchester on an active Dorchester District Court warrant for Unarmed Robbery. Officers were informed by the suspect that he wanted to turn himself in to police and agreed to be safely taken into custody.
The facts of the original incident are as follows:
At about 10:51 AM on Wednesday, May 22, 2019, officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) responded to a panic alarm at 305 Talbot Avenue (East Boston Savings Bank) in Dorchester. On arrival officers spoke to one of the tellers who stated an unknown white possible Hispanic male approached her window and passed her a note demanding money. The victim stated she handed over an undisclosed amount of US Currency to the suspect who took the money and the note, then fled on foot down Talbot Avenue toward Southern Avenue in Dorchester. A description of the suspect was broadcast and officers searched the area for him to no avail.
