Way to go, Hasani!

The Boston Fire Department honored an 8-year-old boy named Hasani Little for the bravery and heroism he showed by helping to rescue family members and neighbors from a fire earlier this month on Lucerne Street.

Members of the BFD, along with members of Local 718 Boston Firefighters Union, went to the PA Shaw Elementary School, where Hasani attends, to honor him with a special certificate.

“His actions, at great risk to himself, represent a tremendous level of bravery, courage, and heroism,” said Sam Dillon, President of Boston Firefighters Local 718

Hasani and his family, who lost everything in the fire, were also presented with a check from Local 718.

Dillon posted the presentation on Instagram:

“Several weeks ago, an 8-year-old boy demonstrated incredible bravery when his apartment caught fire, jumping out of bed to alert not just his family but neighbors in the apartments above. 8 years old, and he was helping to dress his neighbor’s young child before getting her outside, and he didn’t even have shoes on. Local 718 was incredibly proud to present our friend with a Certificate of Commendation and his family with a donation from our Local 718 Children’s Fund. Local 718’s mission to the City of Boston doesn’t stop when we put the fire out; that’s where it starts.”
