Congratulations to Comfort Kitchen’s Sāsha Coleman on her James Beard Award Nomination – 2026
The James Beard Foundation has announced its 2026 semifinalist nominees for the James Beard Awards — one of the most prestigious awards a restaurant or chef can earn. The non-profit celebrates restaurants and chefs around the country in many categories!
We were happy to learn that Sāsha Coleman from Dorchester’s Comfort Kitchen has been nominated for Best Chef in the Northeast. Way to go!
According to a post by Comfort Kitchen: Chef Sāsha Coleman, born and raised right here in Boston, she joins the kitchen team (November 2025), bringing along with her nostalgic flavors she grew up with in this neighborhood. Enjoy a new spin on our plantain-battered breakfast, a reimagined old-school pound cake, and more!
After three years operating as a residency pop-up restaurant at Little Dipper in Jamaica Plain, Comfort Kitchen opened its own doors in January of 2023 in a historic building that had been a public restroom until 1974. The accolades for this new restaurant have been pouring in! Comfort Kitchen was nominated for Best New Restaurant in 2024.
The semifinalists will be whittled down to a short list of finalists, who will be announced on Tuesday, March 31, and the winners will be announced at the James Beard Restaurant and Chef Awards ceremony on Monday, June 15, at the Lyric Opera of Chicago.
