Looks like a new fast-casual spot is headed to South Bay! According to Universal Hub, Panda Express plans to open a new location in Dorchester at the former Wahlburgers site near the Expressway.
According to Boston Restaurant Talk, a Licensing Board agenda notes the new restaurant will feature seating for 67 people across multiple rooms inside the 3,600-square-foot space at 5 District Ave. Outdoor seating does not appear to be part of the plan.
The upcoming Dorchester location will join other local Panda Express restaurants in places like Boston, Medford, Dedham, Westwood, and Walpole.
The former tenant, Wahlburgers — founded by Dorchester brothers Mark, Donnie, and Paul Wahlberg — still has area locations in Fenway, Logan Airport, and Hingham.
