Today is Trung Thu – the Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as Moon Festival or Mooncake Festival – that celebrates gratitude and reverence to the Moon after harvesting!
Celebrate with some mooncakes from Bếp Bụi from 8am-12pm
Bếp Bụi is located at 95 Freeport Street.
What are mooncakes?
It’s a dessert pastry with a sweet or savory filling usually round in shape to reflect the shape of the moon! They are normally baked, golden-brown and molded or stamped on top with the name of the filling.
Typical sweet fillings include sweet bean paste, lotus seed paste or jujube paste that surround a mini salted and cured duck egg yolks. Savory fillings include ham, Chinese sausage, roast pork and radish. Another traditional filling is mixed nuts and dried fruit.
