Caught in Dot: The Dorchester Porpoise

Last Friday, a Savin Hill resident spotted a porpoise in the water near the Dorchester Yacht Club. Lucky duck!  According to Emily Sweeney in the Boston Globe, Paul Moore captured the mammal on video as he walked along the beach.  The New England Aquarium identified it as a harbor porpoise – the smallest of the dolphin species.

Thanks to cleaner water, these little guys can can be spotted from mid-winter to early spring!
