BPD Investigation Update: At about 1:30 PM on Wednesday April 19, 2023, members of the BPD Youth Violence Strike Force, arrested Tumerrick Brown, 22, of Dorchester, in the area of 28 Michigan Avenue in Dorchester.
At the time of his arrest, the suspect was wanted on 12 outstanding warrants on charges including Assault and Battery on a Police Officer, Assault and Battery by means of a Dangerous Weapon, Fugitive from Justice (Salam, NH), multiple counts of Larceny and several Violations of the Chapter 90 MA Auto Laws.
After placing the suspect in custody, one of our officers was attacked by two dogs inside the house and bitten several times. A second officer discharged their weapon striking both dogs.
The officer who was bitten and the officer who discharged their firearm were both transported to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries. One of the dogs is deceased and the other dog was injured.
Officers then secured the apartment pending the issuance of a search warrant which was later executed, leading to the recovery of a .40 caliber firearm. As a result, the suspect will be charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Unlawful Storage of a Firearm and Possession of a Firearm with an Obliterated Serial Number.

Boston Police Officers were effecting an arrest at 28 Michigan Avenue in Mattapan on a suspect known to have multiple arrest warrants.

WHDH’s Steve Cooper via Twitter is reporting that a BPD officer was taken to an area hospital after being attacked by a pit bull near Eire Street and Michigan Ave in Dorchester. A second officer shot the dog.
According to the police, it is unclear whether the officers involved were responding to a call at the time the dog attacked.
This is an active investigation.
